Why choose Crosswired?

The reasons for choosing Crosswired really have to be your own choice. If you can see the benefits of this project then I guess you'd be well suited to a membership. The points below are for educational reasons to help in your decision. The points below are often asked of us so we've put them on the site.

You don't have to worry about monthly bandwidth allowances.

Many other hosting companies offer the usage of a server all your own all for around £30 per month. There is usually a monthly bandwidth limit of around 2-6Gb of data transfer. Any bandwidth usage over this limit is charged at a premium rate. What you have to remember is that if your server had just a 32Kbit/s (less than the average modem at 56Kbit/s) feed is it worth having your own server?

You have access to many skilled people.

As a part of the Crosswired Project you bring your own uniqueness and skills. There are many other people from all walks of life and many areas of expertise.

You are not alone.

I must admit the initial cooperative was a bit of an experiment with regards to sociological issues. Such as can people work together? One thing that has been proved is that everyone on the original cooperative has benefited from pulling together to get what they want. I'm not saying everyone has to be socially active, its just that those that have participated have benefited from the experience. It has been said that the knowledge gained alone from joining Project Crosswired has made it all worth while.

You are a part of the big picture.

Your not just a nobody with a server with some company. If myself and Barry have any decisions to make that would affect the entire Crosswired Project we actively invite members to publicly post their opinions. Myself and Barry are here to make sure nothing is done that is self-destructive, the Crosswired Project is run by ALL the members.
